Public Television (PBS) usually holds a monthly or quarterly donation drive to keep the various stations running. That said, the volunteer-run Public Domain audiobook website LibriVox is currently asking for donations, mostly to cover in-production bandwidth costs. (The final products are safely stored at the Internet Archive.) The goal is $20,000, and LibriVox is “already close to half-way to our target, after two days,” according to founder Hugh McGuire. After the target money is raised, LibriVox won’t ask for money donations for the next few years.

This isn’t Poderamos without a free and legal download. Here’s the first chapter of Flatland, read for LibriVox.org by Ruth Golding, and hosted at the Internet Archive. You can download the rest of the audiobook at LibriVox.
